My Freakin’ 365 + 1 List: Day 365

Day 365 and it almost went to hell in a handbasket, as my Mother liked to say! I wanted to make a skirt using Bandanas. I’ve wanted to do this, had it all the calendar and then kept moving it out till it was on for today. I of course didn’t have a pattern and so I spent the better part of today working up my courage to start.

Around 5pm I decided courage or not I’d better get started. I got the bandanas pinned to my liking and pulled out my old sewing machine. I found out quick, my machine has something wrong with it and I spent at least a half hour trying to fix it! I had to give up.

No need to panic yet, I have a Challah bread mix in the kitchen I had bought back when I thought I would make it on Rosh Hashanah, something else came up and its been sitting here. Perfect with this being the 7th day of Hannukah! So I start reading the directions and realize I need a stand mixer with a dough attachement! Right! I don’t have that and its too late to ask if there is anyone who has one.

Now I’m in a bit of a panic! I look over the items I’ve written to the side I haven’t used. Nothing seems to work, most of those involved traveling! I had one craft thing I had intended to do. I had the brushes, the modge podge, the decoration, but I didn’t have a key item. I had just gone to Wal Mart earlier, but I couldn’t fail now! I had a premonition of this happening just this morning! I said to the Hubster, “wouldn’t it just suck if with just two days left, something kept me from doing something new!” Well I wasn’t about to let that happen so back to Wal Mart I went and begrudgingly spent the 12 bucks to have my last item.

So long story short, mission accomplished today I modge podged a pair of High Heels! I of course saw a pair on the Internet and had to give this a try. They still need a couple more coats of the modge podge but for all intents and purposes I’ve done a new thing today!

Whew! Just ONE more day! Tomorrow should be a breeze! Go do something new, Turtle Power Forever!

My Freakin’ 365 + 1 List: Day 364

Day 364! Almost there, just 2 more days! 6th day of Hanukkah so playing the Dreidel game. With just the two of us, and my money, it wasn’t terribly exciting, but we know how to play now and I won all my money back. I’ve got a few extra Dreidels if anyone needs one. Why do they give you so many? Go do something new. What am I looking forward to on January 1st? Not having to worry about posting every day on FB or WordPress. I think I may take a sabbatical.

My Freakin’ 365 + 1 List: Day 363

001Day 363! This wasn’t on my list of things to do, until I read about them in an old newspaper at the library. Turns out they’ve been open for 5 1/2 months! Today I checked out a “newer” store in town called, Aroma Roots. They make natural soaps, lotions, cleansers, etc….. I found a couple bars of soap that seemed interesting. One was wrapped in some wool, so you don’t have to use a wash cloth. Go do something new, help out a small business. They can use all the help and advertisement they can get!

My Freakin’ 365 + 1 List: Day 362

Day 362! Just 4 more days left. What am I looking forward to January 1st? Not worrying about why only 3 or 4 people seem to be interested in someone like me working to accomplish one new thing every day for an entire FREAKIN’ year. It’s the 4th day of Hanukkah. Tonight I decided to try my hand at making Latkes. A popular dish at Hanukkah. I was impressed with them so much I had two. Go do something new, stop worrying about what everyone else thinks, do things because you want to do things.

My Freakin’ 365 + 1 List: Day 361

Day 361! Just 5 more days left. What I’m looking forward to on January 1st. Not doing something new each and every day and saving some money. Today, since I was headed to Geneva with a Gander Mountain gift card I decided it was a good day to check out the All Chocolate Kitchen. Hmmmm, generally I love all things chocolate, but today not so much. #1 I thought this was a sitdown order from a menu type of place, it wasn’t. #2 Dessert type items were in glass cases with NO prices. #3 with the $8 plus change price on my little pecan pie I could have bought one whole pie to serve 8 of us. #4 For the $8 plus change price of my Pecan pie and the 14 year olds Grasshopper dessert they should have been so tasty we passed out, we did not. #5 since Anna from WGN TV was just here oohing and ahhing over everything I’m assuming it’s her fault this place was way too busy for my liking. Best thing about the place? All the cool large items made out of chocolate. Go do something new, I’m cheap and I like it that way.

My Freakin’ 365 + 1 List: Day 360

Day 360! Christmas Day! Today for the first time I can remember I had friends over on Christmas Day, it’s always just been family. Thing of it is, to me Carolyna and Nathan are family. Also for the first time ever we all played the Saran Wrap game! Go do something new, Invite people into your home and your heart.

My Freakin’ 365 + 1 List: Day 359!

Day 359! Christmas Eve and the start of Hanukkah. I’ve always celebrated Christmas. My family has always attended the Candlelight service at our Church on Christmas Eve. When my Mother was alive she insisted we go at 11pm, so it would be Christmas Day when we left Church. After her death I made an Executive decision for the family to attend at 5pm. We’re all older and after all those years of late nights I was ready to lay my head down before 2am and the frenzy of opening gifts at 1am. Tonight was our 6th year of attending 5pm service.

I’ve never celebrated Hanukkah. So I wanted to add it to my list of new things to try. I found simple parts of the Holiday to celebrate. I bought a little Mennorah and today I lit the first candle for the first night of Hanukkah and prayed the prayers. You actually light the middle candle (the shamash or attendant) to light the other candles from. I’m not Jewish and I’m sure there were things I didn’t do correctly, but I learned some new things along the way. Go do something new, sometimes we can open our hearts to other Holidays. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah or happy whatever it is you celebrate, love one another.

My Freakin’ 365 + 1 List: Day 358

My Freakin’ 365 + 1 List: Day 357

Let the coutdown begin! Day 357 – 9 days left! Tonight I tried a new recipe called Uova in Purgatorio. I found this recipe awhile back and just thought the name was cool! Eggs in Purgatory! I should have known it would be spicy to eat! Whew, I’d lay off the red pepper next time! So you make the meat base with Italian sausage, mushroom, onion and marnara sauce, along with the red onion. After you get that cooked you put the mixture in those little ramiken bowls, make a well and crack and egg in the middle of it! After that you throw it in the oven for 15-20 minutes and Voila, Hot egg more or less. LOL Go do something new. Eggcited for something new today and everyday!

My Freakin’ 365 + 1 List: Day 356

Day 356! Just 10 more days and the list will be complete! Tonight I celebrated the Winter Solstice for the first time. I’ve always been bummed about the “shortest day” of the year, so early this evening I chose to enjoy it. Go do something new, it can be a howling good time!
